Seismic Risk Screening ReportTM

The PropertyRisk Seismic Risk Screening ReportTM delivers a preliminary overview of earthquake shaking risk to a structure, in the context of actual loss experience with similar buildings. It provides commercial real estate professionals with a quick, low-cost screening tool to discover up front whether a prospective property may be in a high seismic hazard area or require an expensive seismic upgrade. The report is available nationally.

What It Includes

Address-specific hazard determination -- not generalized to zip code
Screening-level Probable Maximum Loss (PML) estimate
Fault proximity where known
Soil type mapped at the site
Magnitude of the maximum probable earthquake
Shaking intensity expected at site (maximum MMI)
ABS Consulting Risk RatingTM for the structure
Retrofit cost guidelines to minimize risk

What It Does

Delivers a "Screening-level" seismic risk assessment
You provide basic information about the structure, including the physical address, age, construction type, size, occupancy, etc. ABS Consulting's analytical modeling then takes over and determines the building's earthquake risk profile and its seismic hazard exposure.

Provides a "PML" for early decision-making
A key feature of the report is a preliminary estimate of the "Probable Maximum Loss" (PML) for the structure in an earthquake. The PML estimate is used to qualify high risk properties for additional seismic review or low risk properties for "fast-track" acquisition/loan processing.

Includes ABS Consulting's Seismic Risk RatingTM
The report includes a preliminary ABS Consulting Seismic Risk RatingTM for the structure. The rating is a standardized tool for conveniently comparing seismic risk to structures independent of their specific physical attributes or their region's seismic hazard level.

Provides seismic retrofit options and cost indices
The product is a concise report that summarizes the structure's seismic shaking risk and provides a range of likely retrofit costs for strengthening and risk reduction.

Makes critical information easily accessible
Reports are ordered and delivered on-line over the Internet in "real-time". Customers have the option of using a credit card for payment or setting up an account with ABS Consulting that includes password access and monthly invoicing (service agreement required).
